A new conference plans to create opportunities for the aerospace industry to connect with additive manufacturing (AM) specialists.
The Additive Aerospace Summit takes place from 18-20 October 2017 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
According to organizers Infocast, as the AM industry is now actively engaged in the creation of end-use production parts, aerospace and defense companies have to make sure that their production parts adhere to industry standards and are qualified to withstand the harshest environments and performance targets.
Issues that will be covered at the summit include a cost-benefit analysis of large-scale printing, new application developments, bionic structures and topology optimization and the economics of additive manufacturing on-orbit.
Participants includes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), United States Navy, United States Air Force, NASA, Virgin Orbit, Boeing and Airbus. The keynote speaker will be Michael Gorelik, chief scientific and technical advisor for fatigue and damage tolerance from the FAA.
