SFCHINA 2013 Draws Thousands

More than three-quarters of SFCHINA attendees consisted of plant managers/management, engineers, R&D and purchasing personnel, with 76% representing manufacturers, processing enterprises/job shops with production or purchasing backgrounds.

An on-site visitor survey conducted at SFCHINA indicated that 93% agreed the show was well organized, with 89% stating that SFCHINA 2013 had a wide range/diversified scope of exhibits.

SFCHINA 2013, the 26th China International Exhibition for Surface Finishing & Coating Products, wrapped up on November 22. The event, which took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), drew thousands of attendees from around the globe.

 Following are some statistics from the show:   

  • 10,695 visitors, including 9,473 domestic and 1,222 overseas visitors
  • 77% of attendees entailed plant managers/management, engineers, R&D and purchasing personnel, with 76% representing manufacturers, processing enterprises/job shops with production or purchasing background
  • 298 exhibitors from 22 countries/regions, including 64 new exhibitors
  • 2,356 representatives of exhibiting companies attended the show
  • 797 visitors attended a total of 18 sessions of on-site technical programs

In addition to showcasing the latest products and technologies on the exhibition floor, SFCHINA2013 also featured 18 sessions of technical programs, including the new “Tech Corner.” Many attendees said they benefited tremendously by participating on the sessions and networking with other visitors. In fact, an on-site visitor survey conducted at the show indicated that 93% agreed SFCHINA 2013 was successfully organized, with 89% agreeing that SFCHINA 2013 had wide range/diversified scope of exhibits.  

“The exhibits are diversified,” said Ms. Echo Lin, finish test engineer, at SRAM Taiwan Asia Development Centre, Taiwan Region. She was also impressed with the technical programming. Another happy customer was Raj Gopal, manager, Triad Exports Pvt. Ltd., India. He said he attends SFCHINA to gather information to help make purchasing decisions.  

Visitors weren’t the only ones pleased with the event. Exhibitors also appreciated the turnout. Bob Geissler, general manager, Greater China, MacDermid Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., referred to SFCHINA as “one of our most important marketing tools” and resulted in many “quality” attendees. The same experience applies to Roy Dong, general manager, Industrial Coating Systems Group, Nordson (China) Co., Ltd., who said his company was “very satisfied” with the participation this year. ““The show continues with good visitor traffic and quality,” he noted.  

Other stand-outs included an “Environmental Innovation” competition, which was designed to recognize contributions to environmental protection. Assessment criteria were based on environmental need, scope of application, originality, availability, financial savings and marketability. Darrell J. Reeve, an environmental expert from Australia, was invited as the adjudicator. A total of 15 companies had participated.   

The first prize went to CTS Technology International Ltd. for its nano-plating technology, which is designed to replace some traditional surface treatment technologies. The company was also cited for its 3D laser transfer printing. The second and the third prizes were awarded to Gema (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and MacDermid Industrial Solutions, respectively.
