According to Schunk, semiconductor quartz parts are an integral part of its microelectronics business and are used to make computer chips.
"With this acquisition, we are the only epitaxy quartz parts supplier in the semiconductor industry with production sites in the USA, Europe and Asia,” said Peter Spit, head of the company’s microelectronics business. "Combined with the machining capabilities of the SemiMat site in Freiberg this will allow us to expand our portfolio in new products."
