Sandvik was first to use the Bessemer process, which would revolutionise steel manufacturing.
The celebrations are not undividedly happy though, as Sandvik recently announced it is reducing its workforce in Sandvik Mining and Sandvik Construction by 400 employees.
The reduction comes as Sandvik has decided to “focus more on core operations”.
Furthermore, Sandvik's legal entity in Algeria will be closed.
