Sandvik focuses on emission reduction

Sandvik says that it plans to set targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a emission reduction plan set up by the World Resources Institute consistent with the Paris Agreement.

SBTi requires greenhouse gas emissions to be halved by 2030, and drop to net zero by 2050 at the latest. The company has already committed to reach a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

"By joining the SBTi, Sandvik will seek to get its sustainability targets validated against science-based criteria," a press release said. "This is a natural step in Sandvik’s sustainable business strategy."
