Sandvik announces new 3D printing product area

Sandvik has formed a new product area called additive manufacturing (AM) within its Sandvik Machining Solutions business area.

It will be located in the current AM center in Sandviken, Sweden that is part of Sandvik Coromant R&D area.

‘With this change, additive manufacturing within Sandvik is moving from a mainly internal purpose into [the] external business of metal AM,’ the company said in a press release. ‘The business will have full profit and loss responsibility and will step-by-step take a position on the market by organically growing as well as through acquisitions. In addition, the AM and development performed for internal purposes in cooperation with the other product areas within Sandvik Machining Solutions will continue.’
