Rio Tinto says that it produced 71.7 Mt of iron ore in Q1 2022, a 6% decrease from Q1 2021.

It also produced 736 Kt of aluminum, an 8% decrease, and 273 Kt of titanium dioxide slag, down by 2% compared to the same period of 2021.

“Production in the first quarter was challenging as expected, re-emphasising a need to lift our operational performance,” said chief executive Jakob Stausholm. “We released an independent report on our workplace culture and are implementing all 26 recommendations to make positive and lasting changes.”
