The National Science Foundation in the US has approved a grant program to support 40 students from US institutions to attend POWDERMET2017, the international conference on powder metallurgy & particulate materials, taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 13–16 June 2017.
Students must meet certain eligibility requirements but, if selected, the grant will cover the full-conference registration fee (including the opening and closing events and two luncheons) and a three-night hotel accommodation in double occupancy.
‘We continually see that there is a shortage of skilled workers. This is a huge opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in engineering or materials science,’ said executive director/CEO Jim Adams, Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF). ‘Students will be able to meet and learn from some of the best engineers and component designers in the industry by attending technical sessions, special interest programs, walking the exhibition hall, and networking during industry luncheons and evening events.’
Accepted students will also be able to attend the co-located AMPM2017: Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy conference.
