Photonics specialist to develop 3D printing alloys

The Institute will work with Zecotek and laser specialist LT-Pyrkal to develop the technology necessary to make metal powders from metal hydride compounds.

Zecotek Display Systems Pte Ltd is a subsidiary of Zecotek Photonics, a developer of photonics technologies for medical, industrial and scientific markets.

“By partnering with industry leaders such as the Institute of Chemical Physics and LT-Pyrkal, Zecotek Display Systems is establishing a solid foundation to become leader in 3D printing as well as powder materials for prototyping and distributed manufacturing,” said Dr AF Zerrouk, chairman, president, and CEO of Zecotek Photonics Inc. “The Institute of Chemical Physics is a leading developer of new materials, a critical factor as traditional industrial production transitions to 3D rapid manufacturing.”

Materials processing

The Institute of Chemical Physics has completed research in the area of processing hydrocarbons and natural mineral raw materials into products and combustion processes in solid systems (self-propagating high-temperature synthesis), while Zecotek and LT-Pyrkal have created a method of printing using metal alloys and 3D printing technologies.
