Metal 3D printing machine manufacturer AddUp Group and PostProcess have partnered to research ways to scale up metal 3D printing by improving digitization and automation.

According to the companies, AM cannot scale sustainably unless the entire process flow from design to finished part is digitized and automated.

Their partnership is initially focused on parts printed by AddUp for the aerospace, fashion, energy, automotive, and medical industries, and post printed by PostProcess’ DECI Duo automated metal surface finishing solution.

According to the companies, AddUp’s FormUp350 New Generation, can produce metal parts not only with medium particule size powder but also with fine powder, which improves the final result of surface roughness reduction.

‘Digital integration in the post-processing of additive manufacturing is the point we were looking for to improve the value chain,’ said Medhi Offroy, post-processing methods engineer at AddUp Group. The DECI Duo solution is really interesting to reduce surface roughness on delicate metal 3D printed parts. Now we can reach inaccessible surfaces in a quick execution time.’
