These new segments are: Energy materials, comprising cobalt and specialty materials, electro-optic materials, thin film products and fuel cells; Catalysis, comprising automotive catalysts and precious metals and chemistry; Recycling, comprising precious metals refining, battery recycling, jewellery & industrial metals and precious metals management; Performance materials, comprising building products, electroplating, platinum engineered materials, technical materials, zinc chemicals + the 40% stake in element six and abrasives.
The board of directors has also been reorganised as follows:

- William Staron, executive vice-president catalysis
- Marc Van Sande, executive vice-president energy materials

Martin Hess, previously head of the automotive catalyst business and executive vice-president zinc specialties, has chosen to leave the group to pursue interests elsewhere.
