3D printing specialist Optomec has formed a technical advisory board (TAB) for metal additive manufacturing (AM).

According to the company, the board includes many of leading experts in AM, and was formed to help define and develop more effective Metal AM products for industrial manufacturing and accelerate the adoption of AM for wide-spread production use.

The initial TAB meeting focused on the effects of the COVID pandemic on AM production and supply chain, as well as the need for automation, in-situ sensors, production-ready process recipes, mixed-alloy processing. It also covered the increased demand for titanium alloy production from the aerospace industry.

Optomec says that it also plans to establish a TAB to drive production adoption in the printed electronics sector.

‘Optomec has long been engaged with its users from industry and academia on an individualized basis, but the Technical Advisory Board setting brings new synergies and insights that will help shape our business strategies,’ said Dave Ramahi, Optomec CEO.
