Metinvest signed the contract with Termokimik Corporation, an Italian producer of environmental equipment for industrial companies.
"The reconstruction of gas cleaning equipment at the sinter plant of Ilyich Works will become the largest environmental project in Ukraine's steel industry,” said Ihor Syryi, CEO of the Metinvest Group. “Despite the current challenges in the steel market, we understand that these investments will help us establish world-class competitive and environmentally-friendly production in future."
The gas cleaning system modernization project at the Ilyich Works sinter plant includes the replacement of the existing equipment with newart devices to clean gas from e, as well as the construction of the facilities for cleaning sinter gas from sulphur oxide.
As the project continues, the sinter plant will reach the best international environmental standards for emissions treatment. Dust and sulphur oxide emissions from the sintering zone will decrease by 85% and 30%, respectively, and dust emissions from the cooling zone will decline by 90%.
