Trumpf has a 55% stake in the new enterprise while SISMA SpA has a 45% interest in the new venture, Trumpf SISMA Srl, which will be based near Vicenza, Italy.

The two joint venture partners, with their expertise in laser and mechanical engineering, want to provide robust and productive addititive manufacturing (AM) machines for mass production as well as prototype forming.

“Many machines on the market today are aimed more at prototype construction,” said Dr Peter Leibinger, head of Trumpf Laser Technology. “In the future, however, the most important criterion where additive manufacturing lines are concerned will be their suitability for industrial applications.”
