Höganäs discontinues electric motor line

Höganäs says that it plans to discontinue its Eclino product line, which was aimed at standardized electric drive systems for EPACs and other light electric vehicles.

Instead, the company plans to help customers drive the development of new motor technologies.

‘With the new business focus, customers will benefit more from our key competence and experience than before,’ says Hans Söderberg, director, electric drive systems at Höganäs. ‘We will not compete with other drive systems manufacturers, but support them in developing new and more efficient solutions.’

The company has developed and produced soft magnetic composites (SMC) for many years. The materials are used for components with three-dimensional magnetic properties, suitable for certain electric applications. Hans Söderberg has taken over the responsibility for the new business area.

Höganäs has also formed an agreement with Newcastle University in the UK to research new motor technologies.
