Heating processing facility achieves supply chain award

Bodycote, a global thermal processing services provider, says that its facility in Chard, Somerset, has become the first subcontract heat treatment plant in the UK to enter the SC21 Supply Chain programme at Silver Award level.

SC21 is an improvement program with criteria designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace and defence industry by raising the performance of its supply chains, and has three award levels: bronze, silver and gold. To achieve any level a company must have achieved minimum scoring criteria for business and manufacturing excellence models, have a continuous sustainable improvement plan and have achieved minimum standards in delivery and quality performance for all of their key customers for a rolling 12-month period.

To be awarded Silver, companies must have achieved between 95-99% on delivery, between 99.5-99.9% on quality, and demonstrate excellence in a sustainable improvement program and associated framework.
