H.C. Starck publishes new sustainability report

“The 2013 update takes stock of where we stand in terms of our sustainability performance during the 2013 fiscal year,” said Dr Andreas Meier, CEO of H.C. Starck. “We are convinced that sustainability-oriented and responsible actions open up our company to change, thereby strengthening our readiness for the future.”

The current report contains information on the corporate group’s economic, environmental, and social performance during the 2013 fiscal year. The company has defined five key areas for its sustainability activities: compliance and raw materials procurement, product innovation and quality, recycling and environmental protection, employee development and occupational safety, as well as social and community engagement. 

Responsible company

“We are proud of the progress we have made and the successes we have achieved, so we plan to publish regular reports to inform the public as a responsible company in the specialty chemicals sector,” said Dr Meier said..

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a nonprofit organization that promotes economic, environmental and social sustainability, had confirmed the report with a “B” rating. The 2012 report and the 2013 update are posted on the company’s website.
