H.C. Starck at ACHEMA

H.C. Starck plans to exhibit its Ultra 76 Plus Tantalum alloy at ACHEMA 2015, which takes place in Frankfurt, Germany, in June.

The alloy can help combats aggressive, hazardous chemical corrosion in hot concentrated acid applications, the company says.

Ultra 76 Plus Tantalum alloys are based on the Ta2.5%W alloy benefiting corrosion applications by minimizing hydrogen embrittlement, extending equipment life, reducing operation downtime, and enabling increased concentrations and operating temperatures in HCI, H2SO4, and other acids. In addition, it enables users to eliminate separate platinum spot welding application steps.

The alloy is suitable for use in heat exchangers, condensers, coils, thermocouple protection sheaths, pumps, distillation columns, boilers and condensers.
