HC Starck reports that its tungsten powders business will take over the global R&D activities of its parent company, Masan High-Tech Materials.

This will bring together 40 employees at HC Starck’s headquarters in Goslar, Germany, and at Masan Tungsten based in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, who will research pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy, and the development of new products, the company said.

It also plans to invests in more  laboratory equipment and qualification measurement technology.

“The integrated organisation will secure our technological leadership in tungsten along the entire value chain and, in addition, open up new, profitable business areas beyond tungsten,” said Julia Meese-Marktscheffel, who will lead the research. “The interaction of different cultures will help us to develop and realise new ideas for trends such as electromobility or a circular economy even more effectively in the future.”
