General Motors earlier this month broke ground on a $380 million plant expansion to its Wentzville Assembly facility in Missouri to accommodate the production of the newly designed Chevrolet Colorado midsize pick-up, creating or retaining about 1,260 jobs hourly and salaried jobs.“Our plant could not be successful without strong support from our local community,” said John Dansby, GM Wentzville plant manager. “[This] strengthens our presence in Wentzville with a significant expansion of our facility that will benefit the local economy.”On hand for the ground-breaking ceremony were UAW Asst. Director Gary Jones; Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccione; UAW 2250 Chairman Mike Bullock; Missouri Governor Jay Nixon; Wentzville Plant Manager John Dansby; St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann; Wentzville Personnel Director Ranae Tallon; and UAW 2250 President Van Simpson. Wentzville is home to the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana cargo and passenger vans.
