GE repair center now open

GE Aviation China’s repair center opened at the end of March, the company says.

This center GE Aviation’s first repair technology center in China and will focus on developing and industrializing its engine service and repair technology to support MRO shops, component repair facilities and on-wing support operations in China.

Currently, nearly 5,000 GE and CFM engines are in operation in the Greater China region, GE reports.

Early projects for the center include the development of cleaning technologies for aircraft engines, part stripping and laser cleaning, followed by the development of repair technologies, such as failure analysis and laser cladding.

The center will also develop technologies for in-region MRO shops such as TEXL in Xiamen, EGAT in Taipei and SSAMC in Chengdu, as well as other overhaul shops authorized by GE Aviation.
