The 2014 Summer School programme is a five-day programme starting 16 June 2014 and is suitable for materials science, metallurgy and manufacturing students and engineers new to the powder metallurgy (PM) industry who want to learn more about PM and related sectors.
The lectures are presented by a range of PM experts from industry and academia, hosted by Professor Jan Kazior and his team at the Cracow University of Technology.
“Summer Schools are very intense, due to the depth and range of material covered during the five days,” said Summer School co-ordinator, Joan Hallward. “EPMA Summer Schools benefit from the close links between academia and PM industry personnel, which helps to provide a complete picture of the industry to the students.”
This year’s content will include the manufacture of metal powders, metal injection moulding, modelling, sintering and hot isostatic pressing. Participants will be able to discuss and solve problems in the classroom, as well as get hands on experience of the various PM processes in the Cracow University laboratories. There will also be a visit to a local PM component manufacturer.
Graduates under 35 and who have obtained their degree from a European institution are eligible to apply. The Summer School fee of €575 covers tuition, all course materials, shared accommodation, a welcome reception and summer school dinner. The closing date for applications is 31 March 2014.
