EPMA reports successful Euro PM2021

The EPMA says that its Euro PM Congress & Exhibition was a successful online event.

The conference, which took place from 18 – 22 October 2021, included a virtual PM exhibition featuring 30 booths representing companies from the PM supply chain.

It opened with a talk on status and trends in the European PM industry from Ralf Carlström, EPMA president and a presentation from plenary speaker Dr Lars Röntzsch of Fraunhofer IFAM, who discussed opportunities for the PM industry in the hydrogen economy.

Winners of the annual EPMA thesis competition were:

  • Doctorate category: Dr Felicity Freeman, University of Sheffield, ‘Structuring Difference: The Additive Manufacture of Spatially and Functionally Differentiated Microstructures’
  • Masters category: Ing Gerald Wilhelm, University Aalen Materials Research Institute (IMFAA), ‘Development of a hybrid preheating concept for the additive manufacturing of brittle multi material components’
  • The Peter Brewin Post Award, Adrien Mouchard, University of Limerick, ‘Effect of gas flow rates on powder stream characteristics and efficiency from coaxial nozzles’

The EPMA’s Fellowship Award was presented to professor Didier Bouvard, University of Grenoble Alpes, and professor Lars Nyborg, Chalmers University of Technology, while Martin Blömacher, BASF SE and Dr Ing Harald Neubert, Miba AG both received a distinguished service award.  

World PM2022 Congress & Exhibition will be held in Lyon, France from 9 -13 October 2022.
