Denso invests in AM

US auto mobility specialist Denso has reportedly invested in metal additive manufacturer (AM) Seurat Technologies.

According to the company, it tends the investment to help speed the development and commercialization of Seurat’s patented AM technology and increase Denso’s focus on digital operations.

Seurat uses a 3D printing method called Area Printing, which involves two million points of laser light focused on a bed of metal powder. According to Denso, the method allows manufacturers to print metal parts at scale, while still being time and cost effective.

‘Seurat’s Area Printing technology is a breakthrough, one that dramatically accelerates additive manufacturing production rates,’ said Raja Shembekar, vice president. ‘We look forward to helping them develop it further.’
