Date set for HIP seminar

The EPMA has set the date for a seminar focussing on the use of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) to improve safety and innovation in the offshore sector.

The annual EuroHIP Seminar will take place in Oslo, Norway from 10-11 March 2020, the organization says.

HIP technology has been used for many years in the oil & gas industry, to close porosity in cast products and to produce near net shape components from metal powders. HIP is also used as a part of the additive manufacturing (AM) supply chain, according to the EPMA.

The two-day seminar features guest speakers from CEIT, DNV-GL, Liberty Powder Metals, Metal Technology Co. Ltd, Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce Submarine, Saar, Total E&P, Quintus and the University of Birmingham.

‘The seminar will be of interest to end users and designers, as well as technical and managerial personnel in the HIP industry,’ said Kenan Boz, EPMA’s technical manager. ‘Exciting developments are starting to come to fruition, with the combination of HIP and AM, which will make for an exciting synergy between the two sectors.’
