The two foundries, Componenta Heerlen HWS and Componenta Heerlen Furan, will be renamed Componenta Heerlen from July 2009.
The new foundry will feature two moulding lines, one green sand automatic moulding line (HWS) and one furan resin, semi-automatic moulding line. These two lines will be served by one common melting shop, core shop and maintenance department. Other departments such as quality, engineering, logistics and HR will also merge to form one organisation, with 12 employees made redundant or relocated.
As a result of the merger, Boudewijn Stals has been appointed business unit director of the new Componenta Heerlen foundry, and Bert Duit, former business unit director of Heerlen Furan, has been appointed director, material and foundry technology.
