Chinese powder metal industry steaming ahead

The consultancy reports that in the automotive sector, China saw the sale of 18 million unites in 2011, and this is set to reach 20m in 2012, making it the world's largest auto market.

In terms of powder metal materials, MATE says the city of Zhuzhou in the Hunan Province will build China's largest domestic carbide precision tools industrial park. Set to be finished in 2016, the park is expected to have annual sales of RMB60 billion.

Xiangxi, also in Hunan, is set to become the largest industrial base for manganese production, and China overall could become the largest producer of Ti oxides, according to MATE.
