Ceratizit switches to renewable

Hardmetal specialist Ceratizit says that 99% of its production operations are now powered with energy from renewable sources.

The company next plans to become carbon neutral by 2025. Switching the majority of its energy supply to renewable sources has helped Ceratizit cut its corporate carbon footprint by over 20%, it said.

Around a quarter of the company’s emissions are direct greenhouse gases (GHG), a quarter from indirect GHG emissions and another half come from purchased goods and services as well as employees’ journeys to and from work.

“With these final figures, we have the necessary information to take the first steps to reducing our carbon footprint,” said executive board spokesperson Andreas Lackner.
