The ASTM is calling for papers for the 19th International Symposium on Zirconium in the Nuclear Industry, taking place 19-23 May 2018, in Manchester, UK. The symposium is sponsored by the ASTM International committee on reactive and refractory metals and alloys.

The aim of the symposium is to provide a forum for exchanging new information on traditional and new zirconium-based materials used in the nuclear industry. Appropriate topics for papers include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • basic metallurgy
  • processing and fabrication
  • alloy development
  • mechanical behavior
  • primary fuel failure mechanisms
  • degredation mechanisms of failed fuel
  • corrosion and hydriding
  • in-reactor performance
  • irradiation effects.

To participate in the symposium, authors must submit a 250-300 word preliminary abstract no later than 16 March 2018.
