ASTM distributes standards awards

ASTM International Steel Committee has presented the Founding Committee Award from ASTM International Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys to Willam Warke, PhD, of Palos Hills, Illinois. Warke received the award, Committee A01’s most prestigious honour, in recognition of his high level of leadership and exemplary contributions to the development of ASTM steel standards.

Meanwhile, ASTM International Committee A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products has recognized the outstanding contributions of Sofya Solodkin, quality manager at Ausenco in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the Kenneth J Boedecker Jr Distinguished Service Award.

A member of ASTM since 1995, Solodkin received a 15 Year Service Award from Committee A05 in 2012. In addition to her work with that committee, she also serves on A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys, C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems, F14 on Fences, F16 on Fasteners and G01 on Corrosion on Metals.

ASTM has also honoured Michael Brandt for his contributions to standards for light metals and alloys with the ASTM International Award for Merit for exceptional and sustained leadership and technical contributions within Committee B07 on Light Metals and Alloys.

Finally, Daniel Edelman has received the Kenneth J Boedecker Jr Distinguished Service Award for his exemplary contributions to ASTM International Committee A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products. A member at large on the executive A05 subcommittee, Edelman also serves on Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys and is chairman of Subcommittee A01.19 on Steel Sheet and Strip.
