Additive manufacturing (AM) specialist Arcam says that it now offers 3D printing with cobalt-chromium (CoCr) using its Arcam Q10plus machine.

CoCr is, together with titanium, is the main material used in the orthopedic industry and is also commonly used in the aerospace industry, the company says. Arcam's CoCr process can provide parts with higher resolution, production level productivity and improved material properties.

Arcam will be showcasing the new technology as well as its electron beam melting (EBM) technology at the Formnext show, taking place from 15– 18 November in Frankfurt, Germany.

‘It is exciting to be at Formnext with our teams from the EBM business and the AP&C powder business exhibiting in concert,’ said Magnus René, CEO of Arcam. ‘Arcam is determined to serve the industry through cost efficient solutions thus converting traditional manufacturing into additive manufacturing.’
