American Coatings Association Revives Regional Government Relations Programs

The American Coatins Association, or ACA, has strategically reinstated paint councils in Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota and Ohio, in a move to strengthen one of its steadiest advocacy pillars. The respective councils, which had been sidelined over the last few years, join ACA’s six paint councils in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pacific Northwest--Oregon and Washington--and Texas. To expand the information capabilities of the six paint councils, and to coincide with the reinstating of the other four, ACA launched a new Paint Councils Network website, which was developed to work in concert with ACA’s new CoatingsConnect1 and PaintPAC sites. Each state in the network has its own page, which includes information and tools such as interactive maps, lists of participating member companies, rosters of individuals, and leadership positions within the specific paint council. Some state pages include additional information such as active “hot” bills, and industry statistics. Specific legislative and regulatory information will be added to the site as issues in the states progress. For more information on the Paint Council Network, please visit www.paintcouncil.org, or contact ACA’s Alison Keane .

REFEFENCES

  1. In 2007, ACA launched CoatingsConnect, a grassroots advocacy program developed to assist ACA member companies and their employees in taking an active role in the legislative and regulatory process. The program provides members of the paint and coatings industry with the necessary resources for getting involved in the democratic process at the local, state, and federal levels of government.
