America Makes says that it has elected Susan Smyth, chief scientist for General Motors (GM) to its executive committee. The America Makes executive committee serves as the main strategic advisory committee for America Makes with a focus on strategy, policy, and advocacy. Elected members to the Executive Committee include individuals of sufficient stature and understanding of the additive manufacturing industry and who are committed to the vision and mission of America Makes.
A special election of the executive committee was held to fill the vacancy recently left by the departure of Teresa Clement, technology directorate – technology planning, Raytheon, who stepped down due to her increased responsibilities at Raytheon. Dr Smyth will hold the position for a term of one year wherein the regular election schedule for the executive committee will resume.
‘It is my honor to announce Susan’s election to the Executive Committee,’ said Rob Gorham, America Makes executive director. ‘While we celebrate Susan’s election, I would be incredibly remiss if I didn’t also recognize Teresa for her dedicated service and numerous contributions throughout the last five years to the Executive Committee and America Makes.’
