AM to improve magnetic propulsion

MagLev Aero, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufacturer says that it is making use of consultants from GE Additive to help improve the process and materials involved in the manufacture of its HyperDrive propulsion technology.

According to the company, the HyperDrive uses magnetic levitation in a circular rotor to help move the craft. This technology could reduce noise and improve safety, according to MagLev.

Rod Randall, MagLev Aero's co-founder and chairman, said that working the consultants could help the company improve strength and stiffness at a lighter weight.
