AkzoNobel and Carbon Group Collaborate on Coatings Facility in Ireland.

The new center, based in Cork, Ireland, features a salt spray & laboratory testing facility as well as a surface treatment & application facility. The Cromadex center will supply a wide variety of surface treatment, paint technology and plant equipment, as well as a huge range of high-quality coatings brands, including, Interpon, International, Sikkens, and, of course, Cromadex, among others.

“The Cromadex centers offer global experience with local stock, quality brands and the flexibility, speed and efficiency we know coaters need,” said Dave Heflin AkzoNobel GMF Manager Europe West. “This is a really exciting opportunity, and our partnership with Carbon Group means that our customers get the benefit of two companies both dedicated to excellence”.

Cromadex is already a well established force in the U.K., with 10 Cromadex centers reaching from Glasgow to Portsmouth. Carbon Group, with more than 15 years experience supplying the industrial coatings industry in Ireland, were the perfect partners with whom to service this important market, Helflin added.

Lee Haughton, Carbon Group's Division Manager, Paint & Equipment, said the facilities are "designed to be “Centers of Excellence” for the Industrial Coatings Industry in Ireland. We are building a product portfolio of leading worldwide brands, coupled with local supply, an experienced field sales team, qualified engineers and strong relationships with our supply partners. We are very excited to further develop our partnership with Cromadex.”

The official opening was complemented with an open day providing visitors with a wealth of information from technological advances to future proofing their businesses, as well as tours of the paint centre and application area to test products and equipment.

The Cork Center is just the beginning. Heflin reports additional centers in Dublin and Belfast due to open by the end of the year.
