Shane Collins, general manager at Additive Industries has received the ASTM Award of Merit. The ASTM International board of directors selected Collins for the award for his contribution to Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing Technologies. The award of Merit was established in 1949 by the board of directors and is the highest award granted by the society to an individual member for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities.

’I am honored to be selected by the ASTM Board of Directors for this award and to receive the recognition for my contribution to Committee F42 and the additive manufacturing industry at large,’ said Collins. ‘Since taking the chair position of F42.05 Material and Process in 2011, our subcommittee has published over a dozen standards with more on the way. This could only be possible with the dedicated efforts of the entire Subcommittee team for which I am extremely grateful.’

‘Additive Industries manufactures the world’s first dedicated equipment for industrial metal additive manufacturing systems and we recognize the impact standards have on the commerce of parts produced additively,’ said Daan AJ Kersten, CEO of Additive Industries.
