Additive Industries launches new design challenge

3D printing company Additive Industries has launched its fifth edition of the Additive World Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge. The competition is aimed at professionals and students and covers the redesign of an existing conventional part of a machine or product for 3D printing with the aim of making the most of the distinctive features and freedom additive manufacturing (AM) has to offer.

The partners of the Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge are Ultimaker, a consumer 3D printer manufacturer, Altair Engineering, a CAE technology provider, Autodesk, which focuses on 3D design, engineering and entertainment software and CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries. All six finalists will be invited to Additive World Conference on 20 March 2019 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where the winners of the Design Challenge 2018 will be announced.

‘We are looking forward to this fifth anniversary edition of the Challenge, with inspiring (re)designs to eliminate manufacturing difficulties, reduce the number of parts, minimize assembly or lower logistics costs,’ said Daan AJ Kersten, co-founder and CEO of Additive Industries.
