3D printing award launched

The organisations are now accepting applications for the award, which was announced last month.

The deadline is 31 December and rules, submission guidelines and additional details can be found on the new IAMA website.

The IAMA winner will receive a US$20,000 cash prize and a media package valued at US$80,000 USD promote the winning development. The award will be presented at The MFG Meeting (Manufacturing for Growth) taking place 4-7 March, 2015, in Orlando, Florida.

The IAMA recognizes innovations in additive manufacturing for industrial applications, the organizers say. This includes developments in the design of systems or major components; advances in processes or materials; new applications; and data generation or measurement. Those in the industry, such as system producers, users, component suppliers, data modelers, and international academia, are invited to apply. A distinguished international panel of jurists from the media, industry and academia will choose the winning entry.

Promising technology

“The global manufacturing community is paying close attention to the many new technology breakthroughs in the additive manufacturing sector,” said AMT president Douglas K. Woods. “As more companies move to expand the capabilities of this technology and more end users find production solutions leveraging additive manufacturing, the landscape of manufacturing will evolve at a pace the industry has not seen in a generation.  I hope this award inspires additive technology innovators from around the world to submit their best ideas for the future of this promising technology.”
