3D printer available with melt pool monitoring

Additive manufacturing (AM) companies Sigma Labs and Additive Industries, have allowed the latter’s MetalFAB1 3D printer to be equipped with Sigma’s PrintRite3D melt pool monitoring solution.

The software can work with up to four full field lasers and offers real time multi-laser visualizations which can be viewed in 2D or 3D, the companies said.

‘Our engineering teams have truly accomplished a remarkable milestone in 3D metal printing by designing and building a high performance computer platform that processes sensor data and produces a near real time visualization for a quad laser printer,’ said Mark K Ruport, CEO of Sigma.
