The MPIF took its annual conferences out West to Phoenix to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding. Meanwhile the North American PM industry faced a subdued business outlook after modest growth in 2018.
The 2019 International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials and the co-located AMPM (Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy) Conference were held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, June 23–26.
At the opening session, MPIF Executive Director/CEO James P. Adams welcomed over 850 attendees from 22 countries and began by noting that this year the MPIF was celebrating the 75th anniversary of its foundation. He recalled how the federation of six trade associations involved in PM came to be formed and he also read out a congratulatory letter that had been received from the White House. He went on to review some of the highlights of the Phoenix programs and introduced John F. Sweet, President of MPIF, who thanked the conference technical committee members and presented plaques to the conference co-chairmen.
